Due to the concept of high density storage, the racking system has huge changes. Nowadays, most of the racking systems are approaching the concept of high density storage systems to accommodate the changes in current logistics storage system requirements.
According to the current logistics storage system requirements, the racking system has formed some mainstream racking types. The most common types of pallet-intensive rackings , it is divided into powered and unpowered types. Unpowered shelves include: drive-in rack, push-back rack and gravity racking. Powerful shelves include: electric mobile shelving, AS/RS, shuttle racking.
1. Drive-in rack
Currently, drive-in rack is the most common and cheapest pallet-intensive storage system. Usually, the goods are stored in the first-in-last-out mode. Drive in rack have great performance in large volumn single item goods. One of its advantages is drive in rack investment cost is low. But it need forklift drive into the racking system, operator will face the dangerous risk. The forklift operate in the cargo lane, so the racking depth is usually no more than 10 pallets depth, this makes the whole racking system goods access efficiency not good. The space utilization rate can reach 60% -75%.
Advantages: the structure is simple and the cost is low.
2. Push-back rack
Push-back rack storage capacity is comparable to the drive-in rack. In push-back racking system, the forklift no need to enter the racking, the cargo is placed on the trolly with wheels, then the trolley can floow to the pick-up port based on its gravity. Push-back rack space utilization can reach 60%, its advantage is that the columns are connected by beams, which increases the stability of the columns, thus avoiding the danger of penetrating the shelves.
3. Gravity racking
The gravity racking is to increase the roller line on the ordinary heavy-duty racking. The roller line has a certain inclination. The pallet is stored by the forklift from the high end, then slides down along the roller line by gravity. There is a damping system been arranged at a certain distance on the drum line to control the sliding speed of the pallet. When the pallet slides to the lower end of the drum line, the blocking system blocks the positioning, then the forklift can remove the pallet from the lower end. Its advantages are: avoiding the danger of drive-in rack and increasing the number of cargo depths. The warehouse utilization rate has reached more than 75%.
